This is a fine thriller by a new author I m glad I gave it a chance because, although with some problems, this is a very entertaining read The plot is well thought out, the pace is decent and the characters are interesting The idea of a serial killer leaving literary passages behind in his victim s corpses was very interesting, even though ultimately, never really expanded upon by the author The investigation is compelling, with many twists and you always want to see what will happen next. The book does have some problems The main character, Mike Anderson, is just not very likable He s one of those tough veteran cops, who have seen it all and have the emotional scars that come from years on the job and in his case a personal tragedy The problem is Anderson is a bit of a jerk, not really very smart and makes constant bad decisions that lead to terrible results He s just not very interesting or endearing His partner, Kevin, with his sort of OCD and youthful eagerness or his best friend, Rudy, a cop with a big happy family and lots of cunningness behind an easy smile, are both far compelling characters than him At times I found myself wishing the book would follow either of them instead of Anderson with his bad attitude and bad mood The other problem I had was the ending There s nothing wrong in how its plotted Everything is tied together and its ...

A good first book I d say 3.5 stars. There were a few yea right too coincidental moments, but overall a good story Have to admit I was pretty sure of whodunit about halfway through, but was still not totally 100% sure I was right until closer to the end So a good mystery
